Breda love affair with food started at Ballymaloe Cookery School in Cork, south east Ireland. Ballymaloe is a world where the whole emphasis is on food - growing it, preparing it, cooking it, eating it and, crucially, enjoying it. A world that feels wonderfully cut-off because it is in the middle of ten acres of organic market gardens, orchards and greenhouses which are, in turn, surrounded by a hundred acres of organic farm.
Having been trained by Darina Allen and then herself taught at Ballymaloe for 3 years Breda achieved a stellar reputation as head chef at the Inn at Whitewell. During her six year tenure she collected a host of local, national and international awards.
In 2006 she founded Food by Breda Murphy.
Together with her team, led by awarding winning head chef Gareth Bevan, Breda has continued to attract awards and merit for her culinary skills.
Awards include entry into the Michelin Guide, Good Food Guide and Hardens Guide. Lancashire Life’s Best Casual Restaurant 2009 and achievement of Taste Lancashire’s Highest Quality Assured Award.
