Breda & her team

Breda Murphy, originally from County Carlow in southern Ireland is the founder of Food by Breda Murphy.

Breda graduated from Ireland’s world-renowned Ballymaloe Cookery School, owner Darina Allen invited Breda to become its youngest ever teacher. After three years in post, Breda moved on to work in top kitchens in Ireland and London before becoming head chef at The Inn at Whitwell in 1995.

During her six years there as head chef she attracted the following awards:

The Independent - The 50 best places to Eat Vegetarian Food

Breda left in 2000 to travel before returning to the Ribble Valley to set up her own catering business in 2001. The team helping Breda to achieve her aims include husband Guy Purves and head chef Gareth Bevan.

Gareth Bevan joined the company in the summer, winner of Young Chef of the Year, who trained under Breda at The Inn at Whitewell and now also returns to the Ribble Valley after a working sabbatical in Val D’Isere, France.
